Trained at Winchester Art School, Sophie Howard has been making sculpture since 1977. Her pieces are often smoked fired and tactile.
She lives in Bristol and works on commissions for private customers and garden companies, as well as producing cast stone and ceramic pieces for galleries.
‘It always feels as if the next piece will be really good, the excitement of playing with the forms never goes away. If I can imagine it, I can usually make it. Mostly these days I make bodies, people are so gorgeous and varied, I could get arrested for staring.’
