Katie Scorgie was born in 1969. She works in oils and charcoal, capturing the movement, true likeness and essence of a given situation in an unsentimental way, through lively marks, brush strokes and strong drawing. Her personal knowledge of horses is extensive and includes a career as a point-to-point jockey. Katie became a professional equestrian artist in 2000, following her graduation in Fine Art from Plymouth University. She is an Associate of the Society of Equestrian Artists and in 2002 was a Finalist in the Daily Mail’s ‘Not the Turner Prize’. Her most notable commission to date has been Artist in Residence to the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment 2011-2012.
